SERRA MALAGUETA – MATO DENTRO – PRINCIPAL
The walk starts just below the PNSM, the walk is a pleasant walk among the green of endemic plants, banana trees and mango trees, looking at a panorama that dominates the entire Ribeira de Principal.
The routes
Almost downstream and along the stream, which originates in natural springs, is the community of Mato Dentro. The community can only be reached on foot, located in an inaccessible area, but with a very welcoming population. Here you can visit the warehouse that produces grog and a traditional-style store that is in the heart of the community.
The walk continues through fruit trees: mangoes of different species, papayas, bananas, coffee, coconuts, all belonging to private properties, but open to being crossed. Until you reach Chã de Horta, where you can visit the patron church of Sagrada Família, make a stop at the restaurants present or take a break to reach the larger cities. To visit the Principal´s Dam, and transform the route into a mix of sensations, you can visit the Dam and see endemic birds, which visit the Dam to nest.
