CURRAL DE ASNO (ENTRADA DO PARQUE) – ESTANCIA ROQUE

Along the route, overlooking the slope of the volcano, it is possible to walk on volcanic lava, old iron pipes used to transport water from the Boka Fonte spring (Chã das Caldeiras) to Estância Roque. The route will allow you to recognize several endemic plants such as funcho, língua-de-vaca, aipo, gestiva, tortolho etc. as well as getting to know the inhabitants of the communities that carry out their usual pastoral and agricultural activities.
Upon arriving at Estancia Roque you can take a tour of the community, visiting the suggestive cave, walk among the rich vegetation and enjoy the panoramic view of the southern part of the island, have unique experiences such as grinding kamoka, roasted corn flour used as an alternative drink to coffee.
In Estância Roque it will be possible to stop at the community kiosk, stay the night in the houses used to receive tourists and have lunch with typical dishes. There are no tourist services available along the route.
