Welcome to Fogo Island

The island is characterized by pleasant temperatures throughout the year: temperatures are mild, rarely exceeding 30°C and with minimum temperatures of up to 12°C-14°C in elevated areas.

The best time to travel to Fogo is from November to July, to avoid the rainy period between August and October.

Due to the weather conditions, it is advisable to wear light and comfortable clothing, but above all protect yourself from the sun with sunscreen and hats. In colder climates, you may need to wear a coat at night.

HOW TO GET

São Felipe Airport on Fogo Island is a 20-minute flight from Santiago’s Nelson Mandela Airport. The city can also be reached by ferryboat  with a 4-hour journey from the port of Praia.
ll the main cities of the island can be reached by hiace (minibuses that provide local public transport). Check with the staff on site about the days and times of operation.
Taxis are also present in the main cities.

Fogo communities

The communities we present to you have participated in training to welcome tourists as community guides, hospitality in their homes and restaurants. Training that guarantees the adequacy of hospitality. Through these routes it is possible to organize itineraries of different durations, from 3 to 7 days, depending on your needs and curiosities. When crossing these communities it is also possible to have practical experiences, in order to enrich the route. The experiences also can be carried out individually.

Excursions to discover

The paths we propose aim to make the meeting experience unique and sincere. We present five routes that show the unique landscape of the island of Fogo and how it is experienced by its inhabitants, in a highly immersive experience. Routes to cross craters, orchards, forests, lava flows, sea pools and at the same time visit craft cooperatives and participate in the production of typical cheeses, kamoka, coffee, or stay in family homes.
