CASA DO PRESIDENTE – FLORESTA MONTE VELHA – CUTELO ALTO – MONSTEIROS

The itinerary begins at the Casa do Presidente, a place surrounded by greenery, which was once a presidential vacation residence. From the forest perimeter it is possible to continue to Djanreka where you can find a spring and a water tank. Along the greenest route on the island you can find endemic plants, dracaenas, fruit trees, conifers, pine trees, sisal (carapate) and above all, from 1000m onwards, the coffee plant. This region is in fact famous for the production of traditional Arabica do Fogo coffee, internationally recognized.
The routes

In Cutelo Alto you can stop at the community kiosk where local food and craft products are sold. As for accommodation, you can decide whether you want to stay with families or in small inns. From Cutelo Alto you can also discover other mountain communities such as Pai António, or go down to Mosteiros (which offers a wider choice in terms of accommodation and restaurant categories). It will be worth strolling in Mosteiros along the sea viewpoint, bathing in the pools and visiting the Café museum.
